STOP LOSS: Oklahoma District Attorneys Announce |
|
|
program designed to benefit Merchants and help reduce fraud |
|
Oklahoma City- The Oklahoma District Attorneys Council announced
today that it has chosen six test sites to begin implementation of
an upgraded service to businesses to assist in the reduction of bad
checks and to reduce fraud in Oklahoma. The program, known as STOP
LOSS, will be tested in the selected test sites through October
before statewide system implementation.
The STOP LOSS program is designed to automate the current bogus
check program and to make it more user friendly for area merchants.
The program uses electronic transfer of information to permit more
efficient and timely contact with bogus check writers. The program
powered by transmodus and coordinated through Empact, will transmit
information from businesses directly to the District Attorney´s
office.
The test sites will ensure diversity in population, geography,
current technology, and available staff to review and implement the
new technology platform. Counties selected include Pittsburg,
Pottawatomie, Jackson, Grady, Pontotoc and Oklahoma. Suzanne McClain
Atwood, Executive Coordinator of the District Attorneys Council
states, "We are excited about the improvements possible through the
use of this new technology. I appreciate the time and effort these
districts have devoted to making this innovative, automated program
successful."
